Our world is an amazing place, but when you look through the lens 

at the world around us you will realise there are many other little worlds within ours.

If you only just stop, look and listen you may just discover them.

Take this time, a lull in our busy lives, to discover what we never notice before because we are just so busy.  

The wheels will start turning again when the New Year rolls over and life gets busy.

So STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN & keep dreaming...

My Phobia...

I am an arachnophobic, oh I'm not just an arachnophobic, in fact anything with more than four legs and two eyes will freak me out, nothing in this world could make me go within metres of them...

until one morning, seeing a photo opportunity, I realised my passion is stronger than my phobia, we will accustomise ourselves in pursuit of that passion...mine which is to capture the beauty of our world through my lens helped me overcome this phobia, don't get me wrong, my phobia is still very much alive but for a few moments one morning it was overcome...

A predator and it's prey (all wrapped up ready for dinner).

Overcome those fears, you never know what you can achieve until you do it.

It's that time of the year again...

for us to sit down and reflect on our year past.

For some it could very well be a reflection of happiness,

For some refections of sadness,

For some a mixture of ups and downs,

And for the rest, probably best not to reflect at all.

Whatever your reflections are, you will be glad in knowing that in a few weeks time

you will get the chance to do it all over again.

treasured moments come and go, just like the seasons but unlike seasons they will not return a second time so if you don't make the most of them when they are around, they will just pass you by.

So what really makes you smile or laugh...?

What made me smile today was a quote on my children's school announcement board in honour of the Year 6 students that are gradutating this Thursday ~

"Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened"

It teaches me in future how to view things when happy times come to an end.
I'm lucky happy times happens often in my life.

There are so many ways of smiling and laughing ....

Guess I have to answer my question too...

my children, my loud and crazy extended family (all 40ish of them), my hubby (when he's in a good mood), cute baby animals... isn't a very long list is it, I'm sure there's more but can't think of any more right now, will add to this when they pop up.

I think to have this notion, whether true or not, is definitely a good thing for us.  At least then we have something to dream and strive for, otherwise our lives would pretty boring.

I'm sure though, even when we get the courage to jump that fence and get to the other side there is always another one waiting for us.

Food comes in so many forms...

comfort food, healthy food, junk food, yummy food amongst others.

Without it we could not survive, too much of it is not good for us.

Sometimes food is not just for the mouth, it is also for the eyes, how it is plated determines how appetising and appealing it is.

How do we moderate ourselves when we are confronted with a table full of scrumptious food especially in the upcoming festive holiday season, it will take all of my willpower to resist overindulging myself but I know it will not be enough.  So I can only tell myself as the clock ticks over to 2012 and when those fireworks highlight our wonderful year past, that my new year's resolution is to have more willpower in 2012. 

[But as you and I know New Year's resolutions only lasts for New Year's day and by 2nd January we're back to our old ways, well for me anyways).

Keep indulging and dreaming...

If the days of our lives are the pieces in a jigsaw puzzle that is our life then we are going to need a nimble mind to complete this complicated yet addictive puzzle. 

There are going to be pieces where they will all fit in nicely but there are certainly going to be pieces that are going to need all our efforts to find where it all fits in.
 Though when it is completed and we fit in that final piece we will look back at the highs and lows and marvel at what we have achieved.

May all your pieces fit in smoothly and have very little misfits.

Sometimes if you're lucky you will have someone in your life that just amazes you no end.  

I am one of the lucky ones, a special girl who happens to be my niece is just that someone in my life.  

She is strong, beautiful (inside and outside), inspirational, caring, giving, easy to talk to....the list just goes on.  

When she is around the sun shines brighter, the laughter louder and the words more sweeter. 

 In some ways her life has not always been the smoothest but you could never tell, always bubbly and cheerful, never to burden others with it. 

She has her dreams and hopes just like any other girl but I know she can and will achieve all of it plus more.

Her name is Cassandra, to some she's Cassie...to me she is just Cass.

Love you Cass.

Believe and you will achieve.

This image has special meaning to me, something I need to be thankful for.

As most of you know today is America's thanksgiving day, even though I'm living on the otherside of the world, it has me thinking...

Gratitude, thankful, appreciation .... just some words we could use to describe feelings we should feel everyday, just for being here, in this sometimes wonderful, sometimes not so wonderful world of ours.  But everyone being the busy people we are, just never give these words a thought most days.  So dedicating a day in the year just to stop and reflect, be with family (the ones who matter the most) and be thankful for everything we have (though at times we may not think it's enough) is a great tradition to have.  

Be thankful and keep dreaming...

"Would you like a cuppa?" a question that I usually reply with "Yes please", do you?

Not sure about you but mine is an automatic response, for me I think it has some sort of social relevance, on the odd occasion I probably didn't particularly want one but because I wanted to be social.  

Refusing one is like refusing to be social with the person offering, at the time I don't conciously think that but in afterthought it occurs to me that occasionally that could be the feeling. 

So now when I offer someone a cuppa, I think, do they really want one or are they just trying to be social.

Guess whatever the reason it's nice to have company when having a cuppa.

Think I'll go now to have mine, before it gets cold.

A beautiful bouquet of miniature roses that I bought a few days ago, that conjured up for me recent past weddings I have attended and also mine in the distant past.  

Flowers are one of the things that we would love to hold onto it's beauty but is always eluding us but sometimes when the beauty is gone, we make up for in our love for it, just like my love for flowers lets me see what it once was and also the beauty that's left behind.

Vintage - definition: of high quality and lasting value, or showing the best and most typical characteristics of a particular type of thing, especially from the past.

I went shopping on Saturday at a very up market suburb, came across a lot of clothes that didn't look new, they were still in fairly good condition but just not new and were mostly brand named items.  I came to learn that they are described as "vintage".  I guess that is the new term for pre-loved / used clothes and items.

Came across this vintage "look" clock outside a shop in a very vintage looking town "Tilba Tilba" on the South Coast of NSW.

I wonder if the many modern things we create today will become the vintage of the future.  I'm not so sure that the designs we have today are anything compared to the vintage items we have and can admire now.  I just don't think they have the quality and the design to have the longevity that the designs from the past have.

Summer has passed us by and left us to scramble for anything reminding us of the Summer past.  Sandy beaches now swept with frosty winds, and oceans once so welcoming is now only welcoming those who are rugged up enough to brave those chilly sprays.

Joys of coming Winter could well be to sit in front of a rustling fire with a warm cup of hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.  Rugged up with our uggies and scarves, our constant companions for the next few months.

From which angle do you view life?.....bright and cheery......dark and gloomy......innocent and naive.....harsh and critical....sweet and dreamy....happy and bubbly.....well I view it from all of the above, depending on the day.  

Wished it was all sweet and dreamy but life cannot be viewed from only one angle, every angle has a different take and each take has it's very own story.
